Pat Stier - Wildrose

The provincial government has pulled funding for a police training academy in Fort MacLeod out from under the project.

Wildrose MLA for Livingstone MacLeod Pat Stier says he can't believe it. "There seems to be an obvious problem with the trust that most people have including most municipalities and urban centres with the provincial government to the point where they can go and sign a contract for a huge project like this and just cancel it whenever they feel like it."

Stier though does not subscribe to the theory that the move is being made because voters elected a member of the opposition Wildrose party instead of the governing PC's.  "It would be extremely appalling to me to see a provincial government go about attacking projects on that basis, I couldn't even fathom that that would be the idea at all."

The MLA says this decision and the closure of the Little Bow Continuing Care centre in Champion shows the province can't manage their projects or the budget.

He says members of his party plan to fight the decision as much as they can.
