100th Anniversary of the Turner Valley Gas Plant

The 100th Anniversary of Dingman #1 was well attended and extremely well planned and executed. Over 900 kids from local schools and hundreds of people from near and far enjoyed the day. The gas plant tours were interesting and informative with tour guides in period costume to add to the atmosphere.

Legacy Oil+ Gas CEO, Trent Yanko, deserves a huge thank you from this area for all that is company provided to make the celebration the success it was.

Visiting dignitaries that offered some heartfelt and meaningful speeches included: Laureen Harper; Heather Klimchuk, Minister of Culture; Diana McQueen, Minister of Energy; Pat Stier, Wildrose MLA for Livingstone Macleod Riding; David Collyer, President of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers and Turner Valley Mayor, Kelly Tuck. The ceremony was expertly emceed by Dave Kelly.

The audience also enjoyed the Turner Valley School Choir, Oilfields High School Senior Band and highlights from “Centennial”, a play written by Sharon Pollock and based on the events surrounding the discovery of oil.
